1 Four Steps for Overcoming Stress and Anxiety during Exams أربع خطوات للتغلب على القلق واالضطراب النفسي وقت االمتحانات Fr. Jacob Nadian saintbishoy.ca Important: Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man (Luke 21:36) First: Our Lord Jesus Christ, said in His last prayer before leaving the garden and going up to Golgotha: I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do (John 17: 4) Question: what this has to do with my worries, anxiety, psychological stress during the time of studying and exams and fear of success or failure? Answer: The Lord Jesus Christ, in His incarnation, taught us that we all have a great mission in life. Success of this mission is guaranteed since it is given by God, but only needs our determination to follow His footsteps. I am talking here about His mission of incarnation that was so clear and precise; as received from the Father, and was fulfilled on earth and brought forth the complete glory of God in such a very short time, but its fruits will last forever. Now, as the children of God, we have a very important mission; that is to watch over this precious gift of sonship that He granted us, and succeed and bring forth fruits. You must have faith that you can do it, simply because He already chose you for this mission; as He said; You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you (John 15: 16) هام جدا : "اسهروا إذا وتضرعوا في كل حين لكي تحسبوا أهال للنجاة من جميع هذا المزمع ان يكون وتقفوا قدام ابن اإلنسان" )لوقا 36( 21: أوال : ربنا يسوع المسيح قال في صالته الوداعية قبل أن يغادر البستان متوجها إلى الجلجثة: "أنا مجدتك على األرض. العمل الذي أعطيتني ألعمل قد أكملته" )يوحنا 4( 17: سؤال: ما عالقة هذا بالقلق واالضطراب والضغوط النفسية وقت الدراسة واالمتحانات والخوف من النجاح أو السقوط اإلجابة: السيد المسيح في تجسده علمنا أن لنا رسالة جميلة جدا في الحياة مأخوذة منه ولذا فالنجاح فيها مضمون. وذلك إن أردنا وتتبعنا خطوات رسالته. أتكلم هنا عن رسالته في التجسد أنها كانت رسالة واضحة ومحددة استلمها من اآلب وأكملها على األرض فحقق المجد الكامل هلل في فترة وجيزة جدا على األرض ولكن غير محدودة بالزمن ألن آثارها ستظل إلى األبد. فاآلن نحن كأوالد هلل لنا رسالة هامة جدا وهي أن نحافظ على هذه العطية الغالية التي أعطانا إياها وهي البنوة وننجح ونثمر فيها. يجب أن يكون عندك االيمان أنك ستنجح في هذه الرسالة ألنه هو الذي اختارك لها حيث قال: "ليس أنتم اخترتموني بل انا اخترتكم واقمتكم لتذهبوا وتأتوا بثمر ويدوم ثمركم لكي يعطيكم اآلب كل ما طلبتم باسمي" )يوحنا 16( 15: 1

2 ألن" Notice here what He said I chose you appointed you go and bear fruit Then He is assurance of our success, Whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. Didn t the Bible teach us that: The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore, we His servants will arise and build (Nehemiah 2: 20) So, how would God grant us success? 1. Never Worry, Just Pray When you are studying and preparing for exams, it is very empowering to pray and claim passages from the Bible to help you stay focused and help you to get in touch with God s power: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble (Matthew 6: 33 44) A) Don t worry about the remaining few days before the exam or think that time is not enough to prepare for the exam. Think about the blessings: whatever needs to be done in a thousand year could be done in a day: Then I will command My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years (Leviticus 25: 21) For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night (Psalm 90: 4) But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Peter 3: 8) B) Don t worry about what to say in oral or lab exams. God will give you wisdom: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist (Luke 21: 15) And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke (Acts 6: 8-10) 2 طا" الحظ قوله هنا "أنا اخترتكم... أقمتكم... تأتوا بثمر" ثم النقطة الخاصة بنجاحنا المضمون "لكي يعطيكم اآلب كل ما طلبتم باسمي". ألم يعلمنا الكتاب: " نا إله السماء يعطينا النجاح ونحن عبيده نقوم ونبني" )نحميا 20( 2: فكيف يعطينا هللا النجاح 1. ال تقلق بل صلي عندما تذاكر وتعد نفسك لالمتحانات قوي نفسك بالصالة وقراءة الكتاب المقدس لكي تنال قوة من هللا للتركيز في دراستك والبعد عن القلق. لبوا اوال ملكوت هللا وبره وهذه كلها تزاد لكم. فال تهتموا للغد الن الغد يهتم بما لنفسه يكفي اليوم شره" )متي 33 :6 )34 ا( ال تقلق عن األيام القليلة الباقية لالمتحانات وال تشغل بالك بأن الوقت ليس كافيا للمذاكرة بل بالحري اذكر البركات التي يعطيك هللا إياها فما يحتاج عمله إلى ربما ألف سنة يمكن عمله في يوما واحدا : "فاني امر ببركتي لكم في السنة السادسة فتعمل غلة لثالث سنين" )الويين 21( 25: ألف سنة في عينيك مثل يوم أمس بعدما عبر وكهزيع من الليل" )مزمور 4( 90: "ولكن ال يخف عليكم هذا الشيء الواحد ايها االحباء ان يوما واحدا عند الرب كألف سنة وألف سنة كيوم واحد" )2 بطرس 8( 3: ب( ال تقلق عن ما تقول في االمتحانات الشفوية أو العملية فالسيد الرب سيعطيك حكمة ال يستطيع أحد أن يقاومها: "ألني انا اعطيكم فما وحكمة ال يقدر جميع معانديكم ان يقاوموها أو يناقضوها )لوقا 21: )15 "واما استفانوس فاذ كان مملوءا ايمانا وقوة كان يصنع عجائب وآيات عظيمة في الشعب. فنهض قوم من المجمع... يحاورون استفانوس. ولم يقدروا ان يقاوموا الحكمة والروح الذي كان يتكلم به" )أعمال 8 :6 )10

3 You may ask about how to get the wisdom: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind (James 1: 5 6) C) Don t let Satan play with your mind that studying is hard and that you will never succeed or it is a terrible chastening from God or your parents. Open your heart and mind and you will see the bright future that awaits your patience and perseverance: Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12: 11) D) If you still feel tired or stressed out; especially during exams, remind yourself with God s promise: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13) 2. Always freshen up your body and mind Our worries about exams can make us lose our minds or our loved ones because of our clear tension and anger with the excuse of being stressed out. Just take it easy, freshen up and follow these simple steps: A) Take a break from the textbooks every so often and remember where your greatest help comes from: My help comes from The Lord, Who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2) B) Never be afraid of exams, but with confidence say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13: 6) If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8: 31) The Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught (Proverbs 3: 26) C) Don t worry about what is outside your control. God is in full control of your exams, your results and even your destiny: The earth is The Lord s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein (Psalm 24: 1) وربما تسأل عن كيف أحصل على هذه الحكمة "وانما ان كان احدكم تعوزه حكمة فليطلب من هللا الذي يعطي الجميع بسخاء وال يعير فسيعطى له. ولكن ليطلب بإيمان غير مرتاب البتة الن المرتاب يشبه موجا من البحر تخبطه الريح وتدفعه" )يعقوب 5 :1 )6 ت( ال تدع الشيطان يلعب بعقلك أن الدراسة صعبة وأنك لن تنجح ابدا أو هي تأديب من هللا أو اإلباء. افتح قلبك وعقلك لتري المستقبل الباهر الذي سيكلل صبرك وطول أناتك: "ولكن كل تأديب في الحاضر ال يرى انه للفرح بل للحزن. واما أخيرا فيعطي الذين يتدربون به ثمر بر للسالم" )عبرانيين 11( 12: ث( وان كنت ما زلت تحس بالتعب والقلق خصوصا وقت االمتحانات اذكر وعد هللا لك: "أستطيع كل شيء في المسيح الذي يقويني" )فيليبي )13 :4 2. دايما نشط جسدك وعقلك القلق يجعلنا في حالة توتر وغضب دائم ربما يجعلنا نخسر سالمنا واحبائنا بحجة الضغط النفسي المتزايد. أرجوك ارتاح قليال واتبع هذه الخطوات البسيطة لتنشيط الجسد والعقل: ا( خذ فترة راحة من المذاكرة كل حين وآخر واذكر أن المساعدة الحقيقية ستأتي من عند هللا: "معونتي من عند الرب صانع السماوات واألرض" )مزمور 2( 121: ب( ال تخاف من االمتحانات بل قل بكل ثقة: " الرب معين لي فال اخاف ماذا يصنع بي انسان" )عبرانيين 6( 13: "ان كان هللا معنا فمن علينا" )رومية 31( 8: "الرب يكون معتمدك ويصون رجلك من ان تؤخذ" )أمثال 26( 3: ت( ال تقلق عن ما هو خارج ارادتك. ثق أن هللا هو ضابط الكل ويدبر االمتحانات والنتائج وحتى مصيرنا. "للرب االرض وملؤها المسكونة وكل الساكنين فيها" )مزمور 1( 24: 3

4 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4: 19) D) Be anxious for nothing, but always give thanks: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4: 6-7) In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5: 18) 3. Always smile and have peace God never said that His children should worry and be stressed out because of their care for success in school and exams. He is asking us to do our part of studying and trust in His grace to complete the job. That should bring big smile and peace into our hearts. A) Smile because God promised to give you strength today, tomorrow and every day thereafter: You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest regions, and said to you, You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand (Isaiah 41: 9-10) B) Focus on God and your trust in Him, for He will bring you peace: You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength (Isaiah 26: 3-4) C) Keeping worries away all day, will bring you peaceful sleep all night for you need to have good sleep without worries or anxieties: I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety (Psalm 4: 8) When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet (Proverbs 3: 24) "فيمال إلهي كل احتياجكم بحسب غناه في المجد في المسيح يسوع" )فيليبي 19( 4: ث( ال تقلق على أي شيء مهما كان بل أعط الشكر دائما : "ال تهتموا بشيء بل في كل شيء بالصالة والدعاء مع الشكر لتعلم طلباتكم لدى هللا. وسالم هللا الذي يفوق كل عقل يحفظ قلوبكم وافكاركم في المسيح يسوع" )فيليبي 6 :4 )7 "اشكروا في كل شيء الن هذه هي مشيئة هللا في المسيح يسوع من جهتكم" )1 تسالونيكي 5: )18 3. افرحوا وابتسموا وليكن لكم سالما دائما لم يعلمنا هللا أن أوالده يجب أن يكونوا قلقين ومضطربين الهتمامهم بالنجاح في المدرسة واالمتحانات. ولكنه يسألنا أن نعمل ما أوصينا به ونثق في نعمته التي تكمل العمل. يجب أن ثقتنا في نعمته تمأل قلوبنا فرحا وطمأنينة. ا( يجب أن نبتسم ونفرح ألن هللا وعد أن يعطينا قوة اليوم وغدا وكل يوم فيما بعد. "الذي امسكته من أطراف االرض ومن اقطارها دعوته وقلت لك انت عبدي اخترتك ولم ارفضك. ال تخف ألني معك ال تتلفت ألني إلهك. قد ايدتك واعنتك وعضدتك بيمين بري" )أشعياء 9 41: )10 ب( يجب أن نثبت أنظارنا علي هللا ونتكل عليه لكي نمأل حياتنا سالم. "ذو الراي الممكن تحفظه سالما سالما ألنه عليك متوكل. توكلوا على الرب الى االبد الن في ياه الرب صخر الدهور" )أشعياء 4 26: 4( ت( البعد عن القلق طول اليوم يعطي نوما هادئا طول الليل ألنك تحتاج إلى نوم عميق من غير قلق وال اضطرابات. "بسالمة اضطجع بل أيضا انام. ألنك انت يا رب منفردا في طمأنينة تسكنني" )مزمور 4: )8 "إذا اضطجعت فال تخاف بل تضطجع ويلذ نومك" )أمثال 24( 3: 4

5 D) Don t let anyone put you down or call you weak or a failure for God s grace will strengthen you: And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me (2 Corinthians 12:9) 4. Rejoice of your success and set fear aside Rejoice always because God loves you and He showed His love by dying on the cross to save you: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3: 16) A) As God promised Daniel, His promise is the same for you today and forever; because you are His beloved one: O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong! So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me (Daniel 10: 19) B) Rejoice even during hardships because you know that you will succeed as a true servant of God: But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things (2 Corinthians 6: 4-10) C) Rejoice because you do not face exams alone: God is always by your side, never leave you or forsake you. Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for The Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31: 6) But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15: 57) D) Rejoice because God will help you to persevere in hardships and distress. For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 5 ث( ال تدع أي انسان يقلل من قدرك او يشعرك إنك ضعيف أو فاشل. أذكر كيف أن نعمة هللا تعطيك قوة. "فقال لي تكفيك نعمتي الن قوتي في الضعف تكمل. فبكل سرور افتخر بالحري في ضعفاتي لكي تحل على قوة المسيح" )2 كورنثوس 12 ك )9 4. افرح لنجاحك ودع الخوف جانبا افرح دائما ألن هللا احبك واظهر حبه لك بموته على الصليب ليفديك ويخصلك. "ألنه هكذا أحب هللا العالم حتى بذل ابنه الوحيد لكي ال يهلك كل من يؤمن به بل تكون له الحياة األبدية" )يوحنا 16( 3: ا( كما وعد هللا دانيال فهو يعدك أنت أيضا اليوم بنفس الوعد وإلى األبد فانت محبوب له دائما : "وقال ال تخف ايها الرجل المحبوب سالم لك تشدد تقو ولما كلمني تقويت وقلت ليتكلم سيدي ألنك قويتني" )دانيال 19( 10: ب( افرح حتى وقت الصعوبات ألنك مؤمن تماما أنك ستنجح ألنك ابن حقيقي هلل: "بل في كل شيء نظهر أنفسنا كخدام هللا في صبر كثير في شدائد في ضرورات في ضيقات... كحزانى ونحن دائما فرحون كفقراء ونحن نغني كثيرين كان ال شيء لنا ونحن نملك كل شيء" 2( كورنثوس 4 :6 )10 ت( افرح ألنك ال تواجه االمتحانات وحدك بل السيد الرب دائما عن معك: "تشددوا وتشجعوا. ال تخافوا وال ترهبوا وجوههم. الن الرب إلهك سائر معك. ال يهملك وال يتركك" )تثنية 6( 31: "ولكن شكرا هلل الذي يعطينا الغلبة بربنا يسوع المسيح" 1( كورنثوس )57 :15 ث( افرح ألن الرب سيعطيك صبر وطول أناة وقت الضيق والقلق "من اجل ذلك نحن ايضا منذ يوم سمعنا لم نزل مصلين وطالبين ألجلكم ان تمتلئوا من معرفة مشيئته في كل حكمة وفهم روحي. لتسلكوا كما يحق للرب في كل رضى مثمرين في كل عمل صالح ونامين في معرفة هللا. متقوين بكل قوة

6 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy (Colossians 1: 9-11) My last word: Congratulations Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3: 13-14) Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice (Philippians 4: 4) بحسب قدرة مجده لكل صبر وطول اناة بفرح" )كولوسي - 9 :1 )11 كلمتي األخيرة لك: مبروك النجاح "ايها االخوة انا لست احسب نفسي أنى قد أدركت ولكني افعل شيئا واحدا : اذ انا أنسي ما هو وراء وامتد الى ما هو قدام. اسعى نحو الغرض ألجل جعالة دعوة هللا العليا في المسيح يسوع" )فيليبي )14-13 :3 "افرحوا في الرب كل حين واقول ايضا افرحوا" )فيليبي )4 :4 Finally, Many of those who died wish to come back earth and live for just one hour to have mercy and compassion on their brethren so they may get some mercy and compassion over there. How about you? You are still alive! So, please: Do not be haughty, but fear (Romans 11: 20) أخيرا : كثير من الذين ماتوا يتمنون أن يرجعوا ويعيشوا على األرض ولو حتى ساعة واحدة لكي يتحننوا على رفقاءهم البشر لعلهم يجدوا رحمة هناك. فماذا عنك أنت أنت ما زلت حي! فأرجوك: "ال تستكبر بل خف" )رومية 20( 11: 6
